Defender 90 LHD 300tdi Engine Conversion kit - AED90LHD
Compatible Vehicles
- Defender: 90 LHD 2.5NA & 2.5TD - converting to 300tdi engine
** DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ENGINE **
Only suitable for manual 300tdi engines/not automatic
This comprehensive kit is all that's needed to install a manual 300tdi engine into a LHD Defender 90 2.5D / 2.5TD.
The transformation gives the Land Rover more power, better reliability, better fuel consumption, less noise and less pollution. 300tdi engine parts are also more readily available and generally less expensive.
There's no welding to do, the engine picks up on the original chassis mountings and the whole system is completely reversible.
** USB fitting instructions included **
The 300tdi engine is reputed to be the best four-cylinder engine Land Rover ever made. It is the final evolution of their engines while still maintaining a purely mechanical set-up. The standard engine can produce 83 kW / 113 bhp and 265 Nm / 195 ft-lb torque, a lot more than the original 2.5D/TD engine. If needed, reliable extra power is readily available with plenty of YouTube videos on the subject. Something that might be important is, a fitted 300tdi engine keeps the Land Rover a Land Rover.
PLEASE NOTE:
The kit supplied is for manual engines only. For automatic engines, the 'fly by wire' injection pump ERR3336 (usually from an automatic Discovery) cannot be connected to the 90/110 throttle cable. This pump would need changing for a manual type. The 'automatic' flywheel is not a problem, as you can fit your original 2.5D/TD flywheel to the 'automatic' motor.
Your Land Rover details:
The kits are supplied to suit all the 90/110 versions. If you order a kit, you will need the following information to make sure the correct one is supplied.
- Is it a 90 or 110? The exhaust systems are different.
- Do you have power steering? If not, we supply a shorter serpentine belt, as the 300tdi power steering pump and pulley have to be removed.
- What is the approximate diameter of the coolant expansion tank outlet? We supply an extension reducer and hose to the coolant bottom hose. The early tanks are 25mm (1") and the later ones are 19mm (3/4") - measure the tank outlet - not the outside hose diameter.
- Are the heater outlets vertical or horizontal? Original heater outlets are vertical, but the later heater with horizontal outlets may have been fitted. This determines which heater hoses to supply.
A member of the team will contact you directly once you have placed the order, to confirm the details mentioned above
